Frequently asked questions

Q: Where are you based?

A: I don't operate from a premises all my work is done onsite in the London area covering within the M25.

Q: Can you come tomorrow and work on my turntable?

A: Unfortunately not. I'm generally booked between 4-6 weeks (average) and in peak times (e.g. Xmas) up to 8 weeks in advance. Please do email though, as if I'm in your area, I will try to fit you in at the earliest opportunity.

Q: How long does a service take?

A: Work generally takes about an hour and a half per deck.

Q: How are bookings affected by Covid 19 restrictions

A: Due to recent changes, I wouldd like to reassure all clients that I am legitimately allowed to enter your home to work on the turntables. I follow the guidelines regarding social distancing and can wear a facemask for all but soldering if required. If you have a separate room for the work to be carried out in, that would be beneficial.

Q: Do you re-spray decks?

A: No. I work on the electronics and mechanisms of the turntable.

Q: What deck mods do you do?

A: The most commonly asked for mods are audio cable upgrades and LED conversions. For audiophile modifications & conversions please email to discuss your requirements.

Q: How can I clean my decks?

A: You can use glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol which is easily available. Spray onto some kitchen roll or a microfibre cloth, never directly onto the deck. The fiddly bits can be done using a cotton bud.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Please email deckdoctor@gmail.com for all quotes and bookings

Q: What payment do you take?

A: Cash or instant bank transfer at the time of repair or service.

Q: Is there a cancellation fee?

A: Less than 24hrs notice or forgotten bookings will incur a fee of £90, (Please make a note of date and time if you have booked). If there is more than 24hrs notice then no fee is applied.
